Israeli artist and activist David Reeb, 72, is no stranger to controversy and political boldness. Three years ago, the public outcry that followed the inclusion of his painting “Jerusalem” – which has the phrase “Jerusalem of Gold” next to the phrase “Jerusalem of Shit” – at an exhibition led to a national debate about censorship, caused the museum that showcased the work to close down temporarily, and its chief curator to resign.
