In Rīga, Ķengarags, most of the tracks, bike lanes, and roadways have been built as part of the 7th tram line extension project, according to Rīgas Satiksme, which is extending the tram line by more than two kilometres from the terminus at Dole to Višķu Street.

Construction work is planned to continue during the winter, weather permitting.

“Approximately 10% of the contact network suspension system has been built, but work will continue here when all the contact network supports have been built. Then this part will also be built here. Significant progress has also been made in other works, for example, 70% of the paving work in the stop and change areas has been completed. Progress on the construction of the main track stop platforms is also 75% complete. Everything is going according to plan.

“There are no delays, and in fact, we are even ahead of schedule in some sections. And we still stand by our statement that trams should be running on this line by the end of May,” company representative Baiba Bartaševiča-Feldmane told Latvian Radio about the €34 million [including VAT] project.

Trolleybus line 15 is also planned to be extended to Višķu Street. There are plans to create a mobility point there, where it will be easy to transfer from one mode of transport to another.
