Unfortunately, the program is only available in German, but it describes in detail the false promises used to lure Indian students to Germany, how they then end up in a debt spiral, fail to obtain a proper degree and a job afterwards, are exploited by subcontractors of delivery services, and pay exorbitant prices for substandard housing.

On the flip side, here they get clean air, fresh water and way less people on the train. Safer environment with more rights and freedom.
This is really unfortunate. I wonder why German government is marketing for job seeker visa in India painting the picture that it needs skilled workers and yet people are rendered jobless.
Does the ndr also report about IT Fachkräfte Mangel?

They know it. It was never about the study but a chance to work and earn some quick money here.
Now, they do drama as a victim.
Watched so many documentaries where parents send their children via illogical or illegal route for societal prestige.
Edit: please understand these people knew that this route was scam and risky. They are just pretending and trying to twist the system here (as they have learned back in India)
Edit 2: Hopefully my comment is not removed by mods. It’s a genuine attempt to clear up the misconception some naive people have here.
So… Basically the normal low income worker path, minus the private university debt?
And they steal our jobs. /s
but in all honesty, I was wondering why there are so many indians recently, in Germany.
A friend of mine took up an Indian Student in his home as he was about to be homeless.
His name was Puru. Oh man what a pure soul he was. He came from a small village in India and his view of the world was something different. It was “naive” in a way. He came here to study sth with “tourism” also in a private uni. He also was a Wolt Deliver driver as its the only jobs he can get.
It was such an interesting view into the life these people live and their experiences. And I must say it pretty much matches those of this article.
No german would ever have the idea that he can study “tourism” at a private university and then will be able to have a succesfull career ( not saying that its impossible but it’ll be hard af )
For Puru it was just a certainty. He got sold a lie. He was told once he finish his study he can move to australia and support his parents.
This man was such a pure soul and he was just abused by this system. Really sad to see, but at the same time you can’t help him. (We helped with all the bureaucracy and stuff but still that’s only such a small part)
Sadly Puru’s Dad got sick and he had to leave germany, quit his studies and leave us.
On his last day in germany he drank his first beer and we got drunk together. He cooked some palak paneer for us, it was the best palak paneer I had yet. What a great evening.
I hope he is doing good and found a way to his own success. Much love to you Puru <3
I’m glad someone posted this. Germany is literally exploiting those from developing nations.
German government should really get on top of this. Not just the Wolt / student Visa, but also put the amount of “skilled labour” migration up for vote, since their unilateral decision to open the borders to 1 million regular migrants every year will create a lot of social problems. Similar to the UK and Canada.
