Is spunouts text service AI? This is how she responded to a mate with plans to kill himself in January. If its not its still dangerous

  1. Jesus christ… AI or a volunteer that shouldn’t be allowed to do this

  2. Christ almighty.

Edit: Also, I hope your friend is okay, and please keep looking out for them as best you can. People deserve better support than this dystopian abomination. ❤️

  3. Wouldn’t a view of the full conversation be needed to form an opinion and let’s be honest that’s not for this forum!

  4. It’s supposed to be a volunteer. Report this immediately.

  5. Gives off the vibe of a human checking out of the conversation but hard to know from just replies. Would hope and assume this has been reported

  6. Need to see the rest of the conversation before forming a critical opinion

  7. It’s actually not AI, but the volunteers who man the text service are so married to whatever script SpunOut plonks in front of them that it might as well be. There seems to be a company mandate that you’re not allowed to reveal that you have a human soul.

  8. Jesus. That’s fucking grim. Hope you report this. This kind of negligence will cost lives.

  9. Holy shit! That’s insane!

I hope your friend gets the support he needs OP.

  10. Looks bad, but we are seriously lacking context here. Everybody just throwing a hissy fit without more detail, just OP’s title, which may not reflect what actually went on in that conversation

  11. Is this utter shithousery being funded by the Taxpayer??.?

    That’s criminally reckless.

Weren’t Spunout the pack of fucking Muppets that produced the tips for moving back in with Mammy and Daddy video last week?

  12. Oh god, this is horrendous. No it is not AI, I used to volunteer for them. There are stock phrases and scripts to use, this person probably clicked the wrong thing. You are also encouraged to have multiple chats going, and ‘planning’ is a big part of the conversation so perhaps they skimmed the message and saw plan as a positive safety plan. This is a very bad mistake though.

  13. I can’t say I’m surprised tbh, I texted the HSE service a few years ago, as I could barely lift my phone, nevermind talk to a person. I got a response that was just basically ‘eat well, sleep well, go to therapy, cut out alcohol and all will be well’. I said I tried all that, and they just cut the conversation just like your friend’s. Not too many points in my life have been lower than that. This country is abysmal for mental health services. I also have a friend who literally attempted suicide, and got brought to a psychiatric hospital, within a few days, he ‘promised’ to take his meds and turn up for a weekly checkin, as if that’s any good, and he was let go. I mean, he knew they didn’t care, so said what they needed to hear to get out.

You should absolutely report this, to anybody who’ll listen. Unfortunately there is no regulator for this kind of thing, which is abhorrent in itself, but complain to every body that you think could do something.

  14. Based on the other things I have read on this sub, the appropriate response to inappropriate text messaging is a photo of your butthole

  15. It’s volunteers, but they’re given a fairly strict structure/script to stick to that honestly just isn’t helpful for people who are in need to serious help

  16. I used to volunteer for 50808, all of the chats are monitored by supervisors who are paid and all have relevant degrees, at all times, so it’s crazy this slipped through the cracks.

The only think i can think is that the volunteer had multiple chats at a time ( you could have as many as three at a time iirc) and sent a chat meant for another texted to your friend. What ever happened, the ball was dropped

  17. Why is everyone freaking out?

This is the very last text in a much longer conversation that we are not privy to

The OPs follow-up picture explains the January comment

This service could very well be terrible but there’s absolutely no way of telling that from one text

  18. OP please dump the plan. Reach out to the people that care about you. They will never recover from losing yoi if you go through with it. Whatever trouble youre gojng through will pass. There is always a better way.

  19. Wasn’t something similar already in the courts in the UK?

  20. Used to volunteer with this service can confirm it’s a real person, and they absolutely need to be removed from the platform. So sorry your friend had to experience this, I’m glad he has someone like you in his life.

  21. Are we absolutely sure the plan the volunteer was referring to was the unaliving one? The chat can be traced back to the volunteer, surely they wouldn’t be so stupid / badly trained / heartless as to just tell a user he should off himself?

  22. Holy shit, well at least they’re happy you’re gonna be at peace killing yourself.

I don’t even know if I need to include the /s

  23. Glad you didnt kys rate 5 stars? I did save your life

  24. Another flaw with 50808 is that their volunteers used to be called ‘Crisis Counsellors’ here in Ireland when they first launched. I know people who used this on their LinkedIn to deceive people that they completed full on counselling training.

    Please never use 50808.

  25. Please send it to some media outlet, that is terrible.
