Lebanese President Joseph Aoun is striving to persuade America and the other countries on the committee overseeing the cease-fire with Israel that the Lebanese army is devoting all its energy to removing Hezbollah’s arms and razing its facilities south of the Litani River. It is therefore seeking an extension of the deadline for doing so, which was set as the end of the year. At the same time, it is adopting a hardline policy against Iran.
