England’s crumbling schools are a ‘risk to life’, officials warn No 10

  1. Yep. Got an email this week saying no more pe in the hall as the roof is too dangerous and there is a risk of asbestos.

  2. So, the UK has been spending its public monies how?

Situation solved by not having anymore children.

Cheaper for the UK and then they can spend their money and time on cheese and wine.

  3. What the useless tories have been doing for decades is selling off stage assets and renting them back. Also firing civil servants and hiring consultants

Most new schools and government buildings are on ridiculous leases. HMRC for example used to own all of their own buildings on local offices around each major town/city in the UK, some even used to have free daycare, so mothers could go back to work. Now they have these regional centres so some people are travelling for hours to get to work. Nottingham for example meant the closure of offices in Lincoln and Northampton.

  4. Ah yes. I remember well when, before the 2010 election, schools were looking forward to the ‘Building schools for the future’ policy under Labour, only for Gove to come in after the election and scrap every penny of it, including for those schools who had already budgeted for it. Call me surprised 12 years later that the problem has just got worse.

  5. At the next GE I’d love Labours message to be Why do the Tories hate the UK? Crumbling schools, understaffed and underpaid NHS, legal system running on empty, cost of living crisis and less and less police services. Broken promise after broken promise, failure after failure.

  6. School curriculum is pointless this day an age I’m an avid historian and have learnt massive amounts on the internet. you might as well just have youtube or wiki articles on whatever you want to teach

  7. It’s a lot deeper than what some people in the comments are talking about. Think also about the mental health side of things. Suicide rate among teenagers is rising.
Majority of the time, school is negative for children.
