I’m currently reading JD Kirk’s *Come Hell or High Water*, which is set on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. It opens with a miscreant slogging across the moorland, intending to ‘spray paint the biggest dick he could on the side of the lighthouse, and run like fuck before anyone caught him’ with the aim of ‘going viral’.
Due to being an incompetent, he fails in his endeavours, but he does fall into a hole in the peat and land on a burnt out corpse. So there’s that.
I spent a few weeks living in the lighthouse one summer doing whale and dolphin surveying. It was a beautiful place and very peaceful…except with the fog horn developed a fault and kept going off randomly.
