Blood Donation is one of the easiest and biggest ways help your fellow people on an average day.
It doest not cost you anything, you get free coffee with snacks and ypu save someones life.
Way too little out of all the people that could donate actually do it. Only 3%.

Just waiting for the first post to tell why they can’t do it. Usually these posts get those.
Would but can’t. Last time I asked my doc about that she had a look at the list of prescription medications I’m on and went “The computer says nnooo..” Which really sucks because my blood type is O positive, second only to O negative in emergency blood transfusions.
I tip my hat to everyone that does it in any case.
I wish I could, but they won’t take my tainted British blood
I tried, but they asked really weird questions. Like whos blood is this and why it is in a plastic bag?
Damn where do you get all that after donating? I have always had just a cookie and a glass of juice.

I think I am done for the day sorry 🙁
Wish I could but they ban 90’s born Brits. In UK I did it regularly
I would but i cannot
This post reminded me that I can donate again since it’s been 4 months since my last donation. Will do so after Christmas, thanks!
Would if I could🥲
I have donated 5 times, but it’s been a while since last time, I have been lazy and usually go with my brother’s who lack time for that :/
I tried 3 separate times. No one could find my veins so I’ve given up.

Yes!
I have done it 30 times. Now sadly it is up to you rest for at least a while.
After giving birth I have suffered from iron deficiency and iron absorbtion issues. So I need all my blood for myself.
Fwiw it also helps reduce microplastics in your body
I wish I could. When I lived in Oulu, I literally donated as often as I could legally. I had a calendar event reminding me every 61 days. I’ve always disliked needles and blood, but I fought through it each time somehow.
I now live in Lapland and it’s just not possible. They refuse to accept my buckets of blood at the medical centre.
My iron doesnt regenerate fast enough esp. with my stupid stomach acid reducing meds that I started this year and my reflux hates any iron supplements. ☹️ I have a feeling I donated my last time this year, as the hemoglobin was so low they almost sent me away. Hoping to try next year again. I have been trying to donate 1-2x year (2 was deemed a bad idea), so this post makes me sad. 😞
Nice try mr dracula
I’ve donated 29 times so far in the past 9 years. I’ve got O- blood so I feel obligated to do so. A nurse once joked that I could do it for a selfish reason too because the more I donate the more blood I have in an emergency lol.
I try to donate as often as I can, but I’ve recently started getting tattoos which has slowed down my pace a bit but not even with that I can donate almost 3 times a year. The tattoo thing has made me feel a bit selfish. Stopping myself from donating an important blood type due to aesthetic reasons. But I try to time my donations so that I get a tattoo, wait the 4 months, donate blood, get a tattoo, repeat.
I loved their street AD campaign with billboards that just say “Luovuta” wich can be translated as give up but actually means donate.
Driving down one of the main roads of my home city just had a continious line of give up, give up, give up.
I donate as often as i can and every one who can should too.
Edit: Started “giving up” in the military to get a day off after that i’ve been doing it atleast yearly ever since.
Not to Red Cross.
Ask me to be a living blood bank in time of emergency till I can’t stand no more, gladly.
But I am not donating my blood to Red Cross.
My next time is like next month.
Ensi kertaa lienee ens vuonna
Sir, this is an airport cafeteria. /s
I almost passed out while I got my blood drawn for labs. I’m glad there are people who are physically capable of donating.
I have done it once and not again. Still annoyed with the process. Of course it’s not the fault of those needing blood.
I had been in Finland only for a short time. I was a registered resident but didn’t have kela. Apparently to give blood one needs kela card. They called someone who made an exception for me but still couldn’t with my EU ID. Had to go home and get passport. As if for them it makes any difference.
And if there’s danger when not having kela card there Gould be be exceptions. If there isn’t, the procedure should be different.
I read some time afterwards they had changed something for foreigners with resident stamp on passport. Which doesn’t work for EU citizens.
Now I’ve had kela card for many years but never bothered again.
I donated yesterday. it was near central station
