Technically, technically, EVs are older technology than ICE.
The implication of EVs being a new and future tech really sticks in my craw. EV vehicles predate ICE vehicles by 50 years with steam powered vehicles and horse-powered being the preceding propulsion means. Ever since the early 1900s , EVs died because they were feminized and because of massive propaganda from ICE automakers to convince the populace that ICE vehicles were cheaper and more convenient.
Donald Trump is an idiot that runs everything he touches into the ground. Once you accept that fact his actions make sense. He is just running whatever the subject is into the ground.
I dont get why he insist to insert himself in everything, why cant he just appoint qualified people regardless of political stance into their respective department and let them run things smoothly and efficently, why does everything have to be so bombastic I cannot fathom it
Trump fears the future so grapples onto the past, doing his best to do the impossible – turn back time. The only thing that’s permanent is change. People, companies, and countries need to adapt to survive, something Trump refuses to do. We’re not falling behind, we’re racing backwards, and we’ll pay the price. It increasingly looks like China will dominate future technology, and the US only has itself to blame.
This isn’t Trump himself. This is everyone around him pushing him in a direction that benefits them the most before the country collapses or oil’s place in the world diminishes forever
The magats are blind to the damage Trump is dealing to this country. All the things Trump has done come at the expense of the future.
Ballooning national debt. Decreasing our ability to react to economic situations.
Ballooning budgets in not productive areas (yay more money for the military).
Pay to play corruption siphoning yet more money from productive areas.
Tax policy pushing profit gains over re-investment
Erosion of education at its foundation and cap stone.
Erosion of stem
Betting on oil and not renewables
All these will take time to show their effects but all of these will greatly impact the future of America and it is dim..
Well, it’s not like Ford or GM made any thing when Biden banned Chinese EV anyway. Accept the reality, there is no EV push coming in the US, whoever holds the white house.
It’s like being president at the turn of the last century. While everybody else was moving onto lightbulbs, Trump would be trying to resurrect the kerosene lamp. Yep… We are screwed!
This is like doubling down on horses when the model T came out. I say model T not because it was the first car to come out, but because it was the point of no return (mass adoption).
Like them or not, EV’s are the near future mode of transport.
Just willing hands the future over to China then will bitch and moan and blame immigrants for the collapse of the country in 10 years (or less)
We are ceding the rest of the world. But let’s be honest. The North American car market is very insular.
I’m more concerned with trying to force Europe to allow our monstrosities.
We don’t need the environmental destruction in America that the EV’s cause. That’s the problem. They want to destroy the water in Idaho and that should concern every state below them as it’s their water too. This s will cause a big mess and destroy a lot of wildlife environment and wildlife too
You mean he is not pushing EV’s over ICE cars and not renewing their favorable tax breaks.
The EU has just renounced on it’s target of no more ICE car sales after 2035. So investments in EVs in the EU are also likely to suffer, giving China increased leverage. Plus there’s climate change. It’s all rather depressing. Still, I picked up my new EV yesterday & it’s great, so I won’t be going back.

Ford recently canceled the F150 lighting after investing billions of dollars into the platform and to develop the technology. They’ll take a huge loss from that.
The reason for cancelling it? Lower than expected demand. Most people who want an EV in the US likely already have one. There’s room for further growth but that’s going to be for things like hybrids which can meet the use cases of both EV and ICE without giving up any disadvantages.
This is probably one of those turning point moments next century historians will say *Here’s where the last best chance for American industry was forfeited.*
Trump isn’t pushing anything. Buy what you want or does t anyone want all electric without subsidies.
Trump just handed China trillions on top trillions of dollars from sales, innovation and jobs that could have been here. The conceding of our once great economy from one year ago to China will be devastating to America’s economy.
He’s like the sea captain who wants to empty the oceans of whales to make oil, after the Rockefellers started pumping rock oil…
And he wants 19th century cultural norms

R&D into a better battery continues with or without him in the US and around the world. We know that whoever can create and better battery will dominate the EV car market. Everyone is looking for a battery that is better for the environment (non-lithium), uses solid state technology (high energy density and greatly reduces fires), can be charged several thousand times (with minimal degradation in charging capacity), charges very quickly, is economical to build and can be manufactured easily.
So far no country has created something like this.
