Qatar Charity Pledges $10 M to Global Islamic Fund for Refugees

Geneva, December 16 (QNA) – Qatar Charity (QC) announced a pledge of USD 10 million to the Global Islamic Fund for Refugees (GIFR), reinforcing the vital role of faith-based philanthropy in advancing sustainable solutions for displaced communities.

The pledge was announced during the Plenary Session of the Global Refugee Forum Progress Review 2025, held in Geneva, Switzerland.

QC said this pledge reaffirms its commitment to supporting UNHCR in delivering innovative and sustainable financial support to displaced communities.

With this contribution, QC stressed, it will officially join the UNHCR- Islamic Development Bank (IsDB)’s GIFR Steering Committee, the fund’s governance body responsible for reviewing and approving grant-funding allocations to projects and programs to be implemented across the IsDB member countries.

QC’s Chief Executive Officer Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari stated: “Qatar Charity is honored to reaffirm our commitment to supporting displaced communities by pledging USD 10 million to the Global Islamic Fund for Refugees. We look forward to working closely with UNHCR and our partners to advance innovative financing solutions and to ensure that our collective efforts make a meaningful difference in the lives of refugees and host communities.”

For her part, UN Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees Kelly Clements lauded the partnership with Qatar Charity and said: “QC’s generous pledge to the GIFR reflects the transformative impact of faith-based philanthropy in addressing humanitarian challenges”. (QNA)
