Norway’s Ambassador to ASEAN, Mariann Ruud Hagen, presented her letter of credence on 16 December 2025. The ceremony took place at the ASEAN Headquarters in Jakarta.

ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn congratulated Hagen on her appointment. He said the ASEAN Secretariat will work closely with her and the Royal Norwegian Embassy.

Kao noted 2025 marks the tenth anniversary of the ASEAN–Norway Sectoral Dialogue Partnership. He also welcomed Norway’s support through the Norway-ASEAN Regional Initiatives Programme.

Hagen said Norway supports ASEAN Centrality and ASEAN’s role in regional stability. She also pointed to cooperation through the ASEAN–EFTA Joint Declaration on Economic Cooperation.

Norway appointed its first dedicated Ambassador to ASEAN in 2017. Hagen is the third in the role, succeeding Kjell Tormod Pettersen, whose tenure ended in July 2025.
