Whatever he suffers as he detoxes he deserves
how on earth Nick can afford Alan Jackson as an attorney
Meth psychosis isn’t a defense. He deserves every horrible thing that’s going to happen to him in prison.
Nick thought rehab was bad. Just wait – Nick’s prison sentence for murdering his mother and father is going to be the longest, loneliest, and legal dry out experience of his life.
And may Rob and Michele Reiner rest in peace.
How much control does someone in a drug psychosis have? I wonder if he is sobering up and suffering an overwhelming amount of regret, or if this is something he’s been wanting to do deep down.
Meth detoxing is no joke. Dude’s in Hell right now.
Good.
I’ve been wondering this whole time what the mental health diagnosis is. Family has referred to mental health “struggles” over the years. Was that code word for schizophrenia and they just didn’t want to say it?
And can the press start showing pictures of what Nick actually looks like now?
No mugshots, no indictments, no proclamations about any past criminality just questions about his mental health and prayers. Gtf.
The mental imagery of him walking up to people at the Conan party and asking him if they’re famous is so bewildering.
I wonder how often this happens. Loser children of very famous people desperately clinging onto their parents notoriety.
Kid was living in a dream world and through it all away in the most heinous of ways. I can only imagine the regret he will have his entire life and I have zero sympathy.

Anyone who went down a rabbit hole and watched and listened to his interviews knows that he isn’t dealing with a full deck. I thought he had severe brain trauma or was at the very least on the spectrum. All the drugs probably fried his brain. I would not be surprised if he’s diagnosed as a psychopath or schizophrenic. He was messed up and acting crazy even when he was a child. Whatever the outcome, he needs to be locked away from the rest of society. I’m actually surprised that he didn’t harm someone sooner given his history. The photos of him they keep using are from 9 years ago. Look at the ones from this year and 2024. He looks dead behind the eyes. It’s frightening as hell. At any rate, not being medically cleared probably means that he hasn’t sobered up enough yet, not that he’s in throes of a psychotic episode.
Not surprised. He’s not playing mentally ill he’s straight up mentally ill the drugs just exacerbate that. There’s an interview with Rob and Nick where Rob says this. You can see clear signs of mental illness as soon as Nick opens his mouth in that interview.
It’s the NPR interview about “Being Charlie” movie that’s about Nick’s addiction. Nick cowrote it and Rob directed it and that interview speaks VOLUMES. You see Nicks behavior and Rob even in the interview trying to be protective. That was his baby.
Like I said before sometimes you give birth to your enemy.
Whiny, spoiled brat, loser, psychopath. Hope he never sees the light of day.
Just to clarify: having a mental illness is not the same thing as not being guilty of a crime due to being mentally incompetent. And becoming intentionally intoxicated negates a defense of mental incapacity due to intoxication.
Nobody will ever understand this. We can assume all we want, but this is a tragic occurrence no matter how you look at it.
A child with addiction issues in their early teens… Was it driven by something? Did he just fall in with the wrong kids? Was he having co-occurring addiction along with mental health issues (super likely)? Addicts don’t use to be dicks. There’s something that tells addicts that the cure for what ails them isn’t understanding their emotions and talking things out. It’s got a solution: Drugs provide relief. Briefly. They’re reliable. For awhile. Then you’re back where you started, dealing with the same issues, and now dependent on a drug that no longer provides the relief. It’s an awful cycle, and, it’s brought on by something formational.
I actually hate this kid, thinking about all the opportunities he has squandered and the chances he got. Hope his detox and life in prison is as horrific as possible.
I feel so so so sad for the daughter.
WE’ll see what we learn but my own thought is he had a psychotic break.
I guess like many just hoping there’s something that points to him being under some kind of influence,
so effing horrible.
Rob Reiner shaped my entire life from Meathead to And So It Goes. I love all his movies.
It feels like the world is a darker place without him.
Going to be a hard week of coming down for him.
I mean it’s extremely likely he’s in psychosis based on his behaviour, so I’m not surprised by this at all
May God have mercy on his soul
I’m still trying to wrap my head around Meathead, director of so many of the movies i love being gone…like this.
Studies by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) have reported that an overwhelming 91 percent of family annihilation (familicide) cases in the U.S. are perpetrated by non-Hispanic white men.
One study found that approximately 19% of perpetrators in a sample of familicide cases had a known substance abuse history.
The study, titled “An Analysis of Family Mass Murder Offenders in the US, 2006-2017” and published in the Journal of Mass Violence Research, found that “emotional triggers,” such as a recent job loss or a prior dispute, were the primary motivating factor in 19% of the cases studied.
Family annihilation (familicide) is overwhelmingly committed by men, typically in their 30s to 50s, often facing personal crises like job loss, financial stress, marital separation, or severe mental health issues (depression, personality disorders), with the act often linked to a distorted sense of masculinity, control, and a desire to “save” family from perceived shame or suffering. Perpetrators are often seemingly normal, law-abiding citizens with no prior criminal history, who then usually die by suicide.
The difference here being that he didn’t kill himself and he didn’t do it to save anyone. I won’t speculate on this individual but the pattern is clear.
Statistical data and research from sources like the FBI, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and independent research centers largely indicate that right-wing extremists, often motivated by racial or anti-government beliefs, have been the most frequent perpetrators of domestic terrorist attacks and the most lethal threat in the United States in recent years.
Research shows online radicalization is increasingly common for extremists, with studies finding high percentages (up to 92% in a UK terror study) influenced by the internet, and a significant portion of violent offenders engaging in mixed online/offline radicalization, suggesting online spaces contribute heavily to extremist pathways that can lead to violence, including family annihilation.
If he was on coke and heroin, he’s probably curled up in a ball, puking his guts up from withdrawal
