The Australian cricket team will begin its ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against Ireland at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on February 11.
The 2026 edition of the T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with matches spread across venues in Colombo, Kandy and several Indian cities. The tournament will run from February 7 to March 9 and will feature 20 teams.
For the 2026 T20 World Cup, Australia have been drawn in Group B alongside co-hosts Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Oman.
After single-headed round-robin matches, the top teams from the group stage will advance to the Super Eight round, while the remaining teams will be eliminated from the tournament.
In the Super Eight stage, the eight qualified teams will be split into two groups of four teams each. No points or results from the group stage will be carried forward.
Each team will face the other three teams in their group once in the Super Eight stage, with the top two from each group qualifying for the semis. The two semi-final winners will meet in the final to contest the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 title on March 8 – March 9 as per Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).
