Which is funny, cos Europe doesn’t have really any illegal immigrants. There are some asylum seekers, but they are not illegal immigrants. The press loves to paint them as the same (especially in the UK) but they aren’t at all.
>Many Europeans mistakenly think most migrants are in their country illegally, according to a poll that found overwhelming opposition to any increase in migration and strong support for a significant reduction in numbers, including deportation.
Well, they have to apply for Asylum in the first EU country they enter.
You came to Germany not directly by plane? Adios, return to sender would be the correct answer then. Which we sadly don’t do.
All this really shows is that most Europeans can’t believe that their governments are issuing hundreds of thousands of worker visas for immigrants to do Uber eats and it’s analogs.
Russia’s economy might be failing but they are winning the information war. They are several steps ahead of the EU, UK when it comes to interference.
Note that the destabilization propaganda isn’t as effective in the ex-Soviet countries.
I see that the far-right’s misinformation campaign is alive and well, partly because many millions of people are astronomically stupid and gullible.
The sane part of humanity is being held hostage by people who have room temperature IQ’s who refuse to admit that they may be wrong or not know something. I don’t see how we fix this issue at this point, honestly
Interesting. We don’t have a fucking clue who is in the UK. The idea that we can claim to know well enough to say someone is mistaken is a joke.
>Pluralities or majorities of between 44% and 60% of respondents polled in a survey by YouGov in Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Spain said they thought “many” or “somewhat” more migrants were staying illegally than legally.
The right are mixing in migrants and asylum seekers, and also reunification migration.
These should all be treated with different rules and processes. And I think asylum is the biggest issue, due to the time scale and the rules around asylum seekers before they get a ruling. So 1-4 days process of application and securing path in and out once the ruling is done. No backlog allowed.
Most Europeans couldn’t care less if they are illegal or asylum seeking. The issue is that the numbers of such individuals coming in are crazy and the systems cant cope.
UK and ireland and their asylum hotels are one example where thousands of asylum seekers are being kept in housing, all paid for by the tax payers, while people struggle to get food and pay rent. There are some small villages where asylum seeker numbers exceed native population numbers.
Other thing making this worse is the government deciding to instead of doing something about it, they do a 1 in 1 out deal with France and then cant even enforce that, with deported illegal immigrants literally coming back to the UK from France on the next available boat lol.
Funny, the article never corroborates based on research that the claim is actually false.
Truth is, we don’t know. There are estimate, but no one can make a hard claim.
The “mistakenly“ in the article title is clearly mistakenly uncorroborated.
I dont know why the media loves to conflate immigrants and immigrants. Yes, the majority of immigrants is from other european countries. But generally speaking, the austrian doesnt care too much about the german living next door ; the french not too much about the spaniard and so on. If anything, its a testament to the european spirit, that these people arent primarily thought of immigrants.
However, the majority of people speaking of immigrants is talking primarily of those, who are emtering the borders often illegally and without a valid reason to stay, having never contributed to the system yet profiting from and syphoning off public funds.
There is a big difference here that blanket statements such as this headline ever so willingly overlook and ignore.
