Both were made from necklaces, the Dutch bandeau was made in 1937 and the Danish in 2024.

  1. The Dutch one is brilliant cut, and the Danish one is rose cut – a significantly older cut since the diamonds come from a diamond belt made in 1840, and those diamonds come from an even older piece. So this is the third time they are used. So this is why the Dutch one is shinier 🙂

  2. I like the Dutch one and how it’s more flat against the head I think Mary’s sits too high.

But obviously if somebody offered me the Danish one I wouldn’t say no, still gorgeous just that I think the Dutch one sits better.

  3. I think I like the Dutch one a hair better because it looks like it has a larger diamond in the center and then the rest get smaller as it goes, whereas the Danish one seems to have four bigger diamonds then gets smaller. The Dutch one just looks a bit nicer to me.

But I’d wear either if I could, lol.

  4. Both were excellent ways to revamp royal jewels. I enjoy the age of the Dutch tiara and the innovation of the Danish. And we all enjoy having enormous diamonds to admire.

  5. The Danish one was actually made from a belt and is an official part of the Crown Jewels and the diamonds are much older (I believe). The Dutch one has better stones/faceting though so I think this is a pretty even split all things considered

  6. It’s a tie, IMO. They are both classic, modern designs with a slightly different look because of the specific color and cut of the stones. I do wonder if Mary was inspired by the Dutch tiara.

  7. I like those clear, delicate little scallops on the Dutch one. Better to see clearly what’s going on than to squint your eyes and try to figure it out.

  8. I love both! Perfect examples of how royal tiaras don’t have to sit 37 inches above your head to be impressive.

  9. I like the Dutch but I’m a huge Queen Mary fan and like that she’s modernizing and maintaining historic pieces. Love what she did with the ruby tiara. Subtle change to the shape, preserving the character of the piece.

  10. I love both, but I think I like the Dutch one a little bit more

  11. The Dutch, the silver arcs holding the diamonds look better than Mary’s

  12. Dutch one sits better on the head and feels more refined

  13. The danish one is slightly more modern with how they made the shelf. I think it’s cool how they have the diamonds almost floating without visible supports like the Dutch tiara. I don’t really like one over the other, they’re both beautiful. And I’m sure lighter than most other tiaras so it must be a nice break from the larger and heavier showstoppers.
