An Israeli settler shot dead a 16-year-old Palestinian in the town of Tuqu' on Tuesday after the funeral of another teenager, the town's mayor said.

Violence has escalated in the West Bank since the beginning of the war in Gaza in October 2023. Attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank have increased sharply, with the U.N. reporting the highest number of attacks on record in October.

An Israeli security source said an Israeli civilian fired on masked individuals throwing stones and bottles towards Israeli civilian vehicles driving along a main road in the area. The source said the Israeli civilian was taken for questioning by the Israeli police.

The Israeli police did not respond to a request for comment.

"Today, after the funeral of 16-year-old Ammar Sabah, who was killed yesterday by the Israeli army in the town centre, a number of youths were gathered by the main street when a settler shot 16-year-old Muheeb Jibril in the head," Tuqu' Mayor Mohammed al-Badan told Reuters by telephone.

Israeli forces killed Sabah on Monday during a military raid on the town, the Palestinian health ministry said. The military said the incident was under review. It said rocks were thrown at soldiers who used riot dispersal means and later responded with fire.

  1. Is crazy how Israeli claim that they want peace when they use the Palestinians from Gaza and West Bank as target practice. They don’t even see them as humans.

    And you know what is the crazy thing. [Only 46% of the Israeli are against the expansion in West Bank](https://www.timesofisrael.com/poll-plurality-of-israelis-oppose-841-million-smotrich-plan-to-expand-settlements/), the rest either don’t care what happens with the expansion, or are in full support.

    Peaceful society ffs. Nazi to the bone.

I look forward to the Zionazi loving ghouls to crawl out of the floorboards, deflect, distract from and deny any wrong doing, make outrageous claims without any evidence, claim that most of Israeli society hates settlers while ignoring the fact that the worst that this guy will get for murder is the judge shaking his head disappointedly, a 3 day vacation at home and a firm congratulatory ass pat from the guards as he’s released from detention. That is if they’re not preoccupied recording themselves diddling the Palestinian detainees.

    God forbid he’s caught again, the judge will have to angrily shake his fist at him for committing the crime of getting caught.

  4. He was killed at the funeral of another 16 year old who was also killed Israelis the day before.

    Theres a video online of the shooting. He was off in the distance running and it looks like he was shot from behind. He went down immediately.

  5. I try to remember that violence from settlers was already at elevated levels in the West Bank before October 7th.

    And that a lot of Gaza border guards were stripped from their posts to facilitate that violence.
