I think it is the same with every celebrity. Brits make jokes about Amy winehouse or the queen and that’s cool. Polish pope meme obsession began as the state provided education, church and tv programmes pushed pope “cult” and glorification down the youth throat. It is basically an allergic reaction that is a part of internet history now
It’s like that because young people have enough of “JP2 was greatest Pole, greatest man, greatest saint without any blemish or mistake, and you should worship and praise him without any questions” narrative pushed by church, state media and schools in Poland. All those memes are made to trigger pope-worshippers and to turn it all into absurd.
