Metinvest Group has completed the purchase of Romanian company ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iași, located in the city of Iași. The company specializes in manufacturing welded structural tubes for construction, mechanical engineering, infrastructure, and agriculture. The plant’s maximum production capacity is 240,000 tons per year. The group plans to supply pipe made in Iași to both the EU market and for the rebuilding of Ukraine. This asset is Metinvest’s first production site in Romania. The group’s Ukrainian operations produce large quantities of hot-rolled coil. The location of the Romanian plant – just 600 kilometers from Zaporizhzhia – will allow Metinvest to ship up to 180,000 tons of hot-rolled coil annually from Zaporizhstal, ensuring the Romanian facility’s stable operation.
By 2026, the group aims to integrate the Iași plant into its production networks. The company has not previously operated standalone pipe plants, although before the full-scale war pipe was produced at one of its plants in Mariupol. In addition to Ukraine and Romania, Metinvest owns assets in Italy, Bulgaria, the UK, and the US.
