  1. *first time since he wrongly told a parliamentary committee as foreign secretary in 2017 that she had been training journalists in Iran.*

Ah yes, Journalism such an evil crime in Iran, HOW DARE he say she was teaching other people Journalism, clearly the biggest problem here isn’t that Journalism is considered criminal in Iran.

  2. The whole thing is a cockup decades in the making seeing as we apparently agreed to supply a thing, took payment for said thing then didn’t supply said thing. We had to refund the payment for said thing to secure Nazanin’s release.

  3. Basically the Independent are covering this because it’s Russian Funded….Question! Why did RT get banned in the UK but the independent can still spew their rubbish?

  4. She was banged up long before then and was apparently released because of a settled debt caused several decades before hand.

Which is to say Johnson’s words had zero effect.

  5. I’m happy to see UK subs have changed in the last few years. Boris bots don’t seem to run as rampant anymore, and more people seem willing to tell them where to go. Warms my cockles. And I’m sure the fact that Russian botfarms are struggling under the weight of sanctions has nothing to do with it lol

  6. Surely the lions share of the blame lies with Iran who jailed an innocent women deliberately and kept her there to extract funds from the UK?

  7. NZR: *”Because of your recklessness I was imprisoned for years on end. What have you got to say for yourself?”*

BJ: *”Did you ever hear the tale of Peppa Pig World? I thought not. It’s not a story the CBI would tell you…”*

  8. Didn’t she admit when she was released that they told her quite openly that she’d been arrested over the debt and wouldn’t be released until the government paid it off?

There’s no indication that the PM’s comments made any difference at all to her situation.

  9. It is astonishing that this man occupies the highest office in the land.

I wouldn’t trust him to organise a piss up in a brewery.
