£100 contactless card limit to be lifted from March

1. Sweet, i never had to worry about the limit anyway hahahaha

2. The limit is perfect. If you want more, use your pin? It’s not rocket science

3. So if your card is stolen, the thief can make bigger purchases.

4. Nice. Cashless society up next. You’re 100 purchase is RRP 107 to cover the processing fee. If you are paying by cash that will be a 12.99 processing fee on top of the RRP and btw that’s dollars but we don’t bother with exchange rates now. I’m old enough to remember cheque fees although I never used them

5. I’ve payed for lots of things over £100 on contactless, I thought it was already gone

6. Just silliness.

   We already have things like apple pay / google pay – which requires authentication – in order to use that allows for large amounts.

   Contactless limit should be lower – maybe set to around £50 – because there is no authentication – except for that maybe 1/100 time you get asked to put the card in and provide the PIN.

   What issue is this change solving?

8. Pretty daft to be honest (I didn’t read the article now the banks have the power limits still exist)

9. I always thought that limit was there as a policy thing by the banks and not a regulation thing. 

   It hasn’t really affected me anyway. I always use my phone which is contactless and didn’t have that limit. Also I rarely spend more than £100 at a time so even if I did use the contactless with my card, it didn’t matter. 

10. Lol they made it easier to part away with your money. They did during COVID to get you to spend more money with the 100 limit and now they give you the opportunity to go over it and most people would. MY TIP IS TO HAVE A CREDIT CARD AND USE IT FOR PURCHASE. That way you have an extra layer of security if you get scammed.

11. With all the fraud and somehow people getting carddetails , plus ive had someone take money from my card before fir tickets i now set a limit and the payment above that limit needs to be verified via my banking app. 

    Dont think i will be removing the contactless limit any time soon. 

12. The banks have wanted to do this forever. Anything they can do to get your money in their banks instead of tou pockets.

    Then they loan “your” money to people and promise you that “your” £40,000 is safe cause if they go under the British tax payers (govt) will bail them out.

    They want your money in bank accounts. Buy gold or Btc. Whatever your risk tolerance is.
