Jacob Rees-Mogg dismisses 100 fines for No 10 parties as ‘a non-story’ claiming public has lost interest | The Independent

  1. There he goes again, telling us what we think.

This current party has dragged politics and democracy through the gutters and is actively trying to smear every other party and mp with the same brush.

  2. If they don’t stop talking sides the public will retaliate by doing what they want. Next time something comes to it they can point the fingers like what they do.

  3. > “This is a non-story,” he said, adding: “It was a story in February and people now know about it and have made their judgements on it. And there are other things going on that are more important.”

And yet it seemed to be a hot topic for [Tory councillors when campaigning door-to-door](https://news.sky.com/story/local-elections-2022-tory-mps-assess-fall-out-after-ballot-box-bruising-in-pms-first-electoral-test-since-partygate-fine-12607075) for the May elections

    > But he added: “We need to look at whether these rules were right in the first place in case we have a pandemic again because I think they were too restrictive.”.

*”Forget about us breaking the rules our government set for you plebs because retrospectively those rules were a bit silly. Anyways, tomorrow we will be murdering someone and discussing ‘murder… why is it
    illegal?”*

Because the member of Parliament for the 18th century has always had his finger on the pulse of what the public are concerned about hasn’t he?

Still desperately trying to put this fire out.

  5. Amazing that people think its the Labour Party who are out of touch and patronising. They’ll be telling us we can eat for 30p a day if we budget properly next.

  6. We should have been upset about it in February… when the PM assured us that no parties happened and no rules were broken.
We have no right to be upset about it now, after being told to wait for the results of the investigation and the results of the investigation prove parties did happen and the rules were broken at least 100 times.

  7. I enjoy these stories because the more these buffoons speak, the more they show is exactly how out of touch they are. The more they speak, the more they show themselves up. The more they speak, the more they shout themselves in the foot.

The public hasn’t forgotten or moved on or lost interest – but each time they speak up, they bring it right back to the top of the list again anyway.

  8. The polls still say otherwise. The only reason he is saying this is because it’s in his parties interest we move on.

  9. How does someone with such utter disdain for the UK public and for the rule of law become an MP, let alone a minister?

  10. JRM as a representative of the UK government, makes this country a laughing stock. An extremely average intelligence masked by an outdated forced English accent that is intended to awe the plebs cowed by class

  11. The British public don’t seem to hold these cunts to account. The next general election they’ll say “we’ll lower National insurance, we’ll lower VAT and we’ll give evergy companies a wind fall tax” and people will believe them and vote them back in.

    It happens every single time.

They might even mention helping the North and “levelling up” and people will fall for it.

Either that, or so many people won’t vote out of annoyance towards politicians in general, but the staunch tories will, and they’ll get a landslide by proxy again.

    It happens every single time.

  12. I was stuck inside my fucking house for the best part of a year because of these incompetent cunts. I have not fucking lost interest.

  13. But Beergate is absolutely a story that we should all focus on, right? If this is a non-story then why are the right-wing media so desperate to haul Starmer over the coals for having a beer while working late at night? If Starmer is found guilty JRM will be the first out to condemn him.

  14. I’m still interested mate no matter how much you’d like this all to just disappear amid scandalous accusations that Starmer HAD A PINT! Shocker, I’d need more than a pint if I was dealing with you wankers

  15. Lost interest in that funny boned cunt years ago. Away and smear some of nanny’s marmalade on a horse cock and eat it you spooky drip of smeg.

  16. That’s great then. So most regular people’s fines are non story to other people, they should just dismiss it too. Such a great role model.

  17. The public losing interest (not true either) means that it’s no longer a crime? You fucking what?

  18. It is always most telling when a politician likes to try dictate what people are interested in hearing about rather than asking.

  19. Don’t sack Johnson because everyone’s lost interest.
But now, everyone is interested, so sack starmer.
100 fines? No, everyone had lost interest again, so don’t sack Johnson.

  20. No, what he wants us for us to lose interest.

How he walks the streets without getting punched in the face on a daily basis is remarkable to me

  21. Even if the public had lost interest would the Conservatives not be concerned about their integrity? Or is it only wrong because they were caught?

The lack of honour displayed is astounding, it’s hard to see how anyone can support them without being incredibly callous and cruel.

  22. Why does anyone vote for this ghoul. At least the other ones can pass for human if your squinting, he is literally a victorian villain.
