Chart: Clean energy remains dominant in the US — despite Trump. Trump spent much of 2025 boosting fossil fuels and blocking renewables, but 92% of new additions were solar, wind, or batteries. Trump is playing with fire by trying to limit renewable energy right when electricity demand is spiking.

  1. That’s capitalism for ya, baby! Everyone wants to shit on it instead improve it. But clearly the system still works

  2. How is he playing with fire?  His family is making billions off of corruption and he’s just helping out his friends.

When the poor start murdering the billionaires and oil millionaires then I’ll believe there were any consequences to any of this.

  3. What’s crazy to me is if you add up all of the new renewables and then compare it to the datacenter power usage that came online or is about to come online in 2025, it doesn’t even cover it. So we’re actually at a net loss in terms of energy availability to users outside of AI.

  4. Let’s not get too excited. The US has installed around 25 GW of wind and solar this year, while China has added more than 300 GW. US capacity additions aren’t even meeting domestic demand, let alone building the necessary energy capacity for future AI. Trump doesn’t understand that only wind, solar and battery capacity can be added within the next few years, or he doesn’t really give a shit. New natural gas plants can take 5 to 7 years these days.

  5. The metric for successfully decarbonizing the power sector isn’t adding new renewable capacity. It’s reducing the amount of fossil fuel consumption. And while coal is declining, LNG consumption is still rising.

  6. Trump is going to win this battle. Expect significant reductions every year he is in office.
