Bah, William’ll live. Britain turns a blind eye to much worse happening to people who don’t have a bright future of being paid to exist, wave out of golden carriages, make a speech every now and then, and wear a fancy hat.
I don’t necessarily want the monarchy to be abolished, but I definitely don’t sympathise with the manufactured outrage every time a royal on a day out is met with anything less than uniform cheering and deference. And getting precious over anthems and shit is so unbearably American to me. Britain can do without that.
Liverpool is a very anti-establishmentarian city and their history vindicates them in this. I certainly prefer living in a country where the monarch and their family can be treated with open irreverence, over one that acts like we still have *lese majeste* laws.

Maybe part of the disdain for the monarchy lately stems from the fact that they don’t fancy doing anything about our criminal government.
If Liverpool fans are such big republicans why did they whinge and yap for years to get a knighthood for Dogleash?
