Yeah but Fidel Castro’s regime is a paradise. Little commie troll.
Do they control what’s said? Not familiar with twitter.
Any attempt at control and it would go the way of Facebook I’d have thought.
What about defacto state control of the tv and radio network ie RTE?
Do dictators often promote free speech?
I am sure he wouldn’t bat an eyelid if they were owned by people who who agreed with views.
There is an alliance between the US government and American-based Big Tech (Google, Facebook, Twitter, Apple). This unholy alliance is used for surveillance, censorship, and propaganda.
Meanwhile he appears on a show from RTE who require people to pay a TV license, to pay their employees outrageous salaries…
Only cuz it’s not concentrating around him.
His point stands tho
Concentration of ownership of any business is a ‘form of dictatorship’, it’s been a problem for much much longer than this current twitter drama. And the only long term solution is democratic ownership and control.
As a youngen, was this much of a fuss made about newspapers being bought up?
The only reason the little fella isnt happy is because he is ideologically aligned with Twitter as it stands now. He cant abide free speech because it goes against his own beliefs. Musk is far from perfect but he can only help make Twitter more free.
Wait and see i guess. Unless there’s something people can do other than freaking out about the latest thing.
Musk may buy himself a personal nightmare or may actually have some beneficial effect on the current state of social media.
It’s captalism baby, people with money can buy things.
If you find the idea uncomfortable, then work on yourself, it’s about all you can do.
I mean he’s right, but why stop at social media, why not all media?
Michael D, and many others, didn’t seem to have much issue when the left leaning Twitter leadership were silencing right leaning users.
Somehow Elon threatening to remove censorship is dictatorship.
I’d be interested his opinions on Cubavision and Granma.
From the man who praised Fidel Castro when he died…
now, now, Cahill ….. don’t exceed your brief.
There are still problems about print & radio/tv ending up in fewer & fewer hands.
That’s been around for ages, but the IT revolution propels it into another league.
Glad to see the EU telling Musk if he takes over Twitter, he’ll have to abide by EU regs or it’ll get banned in EU.
Despite it’s many, many, *many* flaws, the EU has stood up time & again to big business on behalf of consumers. MacD’s, Apple, all the major car firms, mobile carriers, etc..
