If we assume an elephant’s tusks are 50 kg of ivory (the average) that’s 50000 poached elephants among the top three countries alone. That’s almost 1500 per year.
So basically 181,773 Kg are seized in China and the rest is seized on the way to China?
Yessssss – Canada’s not even on the list!
Kenya had the largest burn in history in 2016, 105,000 KG. Rhino horns were also destroyed.
Tbh ivory is yuck, and probably not all that useful!
