During today’s meeting with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko in St. Petersburg, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the speech of the Belarusian leader at the Belarusian People’s Congress, describing it as profound, comprehensive and balanced
Vladimir Putin shared that he watched Aleksandr Lukashenko’s speech at the Belarusian People’s Congress on December 18th live and was very impressed by it, “You decide what to say yourselves. But to me, it appeared profound, comprehensive and balanced — addressing both international and domestic issues. All problems were examined from every angle. I listened with pleasure and interest. I also want to express my gratitude for your positive evaluation of the quality of our Russian-Belarusian relations. We appreciated the warmth with which you spoke about Russia and our partnership. I’m confident that many in Russia noticed this as well. It was very profound and, as is often said in such situations, balanced.”
Regarding the current meeting, the Russian President noted that the agenda includes topics related to the development of the Union State and the bilateral relations between Belarus and Russia, “Although the governments are working very closely, and there are actually no unresolved issues requiring our attention, there is always something to talk about.”
