France’s population balance has entered negative territory. The number of deaths now exceeds births for the first time since World War II. The large baby boomer population is aging. While there are fewer women of childbearing age, and fewer people want to have children at all, citing a more difficult environment to raise kids in. People think about the world children will grow up in, and that raises questions. The social climate and economic uncertainty weighed heavily in the decision. Economic, >> yes, but also environmental challenges. >> Another contributing factor is infertility, which affects nearly one in four couples. This demographic shift is front page news here in France, and it has wide ranging consequences. A decline in fertility is something that if it continues over the long term gradually affects the diaper market, the toy market at Christmas, primary school, secondary school. And since the birth rate has been declining for about 15 years, it’s now affecting high schools. Soon it’ll affect the working population. >> As a result, maternity wards are closing. Over the past 25 years, their number has fallen by a third in France from 700 wards to 460. According to the National Institute for Demographic Studies, migration flows are now the main driver of population growth.

The demographics of France are undergoing a major shift. For the first year since the end of World War Two, there were more deaths than births.   15. I guess now is the opportunity for faithful Catholics to restore France to its Catholic roots. This is temporary. As the faithful Catholics marry and have the children that God sends them, the birthrate will slowly increase. However, for the present, the population will decrease. There is nothing to despair over. ❤

  24. Keep believing that there's such a thing as "overpopulation" and then make everything unaffordable to the regular working man and couple that with a dose of liberal feminism and this is what you're going to get.

  25. We have 8 billion people…help those that are here. I'm not gonna subject a kid to no future and financial stress. You need two working parents. I'm not gonna work 55 hours and come home to a kid.
