CBS News’ ’60 Minutes’ Pulls Segment on ‘Brutal’ El Salvador Prison Where Trump Administration Has Sent Deportees, Just Hours Before Airtime

1. >About three hours before “60 Minutes” was set to air a program detailing “brutal and tortuous conditions” at a prison in El Salvador where the Trump administration has deported alleged illegal immigrants for detention, the CBS News program abruptly announced it was delaying its broadcast.

   >“The broadcast lineup for tonight’s edition of ‘60 Minutes’ has been updated. Our report ‘Inside CECOT’ will air in a future broadcast,” the news program said in an announcement around 4:30 p.m. ET Sunday. The episode was slated to air at 7:30 p.m. ET (after the conclusion of NFL coverage on CBS).

   >The “60 Minutes” segment, as previously announced, was to have featured correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi interviewing to deportees who the Trump administration has sent to the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT) prison in El Salvador.

16. Focus the anger on the higher ups at CBS. Don’t knee-jerk judge the staff for this, just yet.

    Remember, the story WAS produced. Lots of brave fuckers over there still doing their job and fighting the good fight. You just know the anchors, producers, directors are fucking livid right now. There is a lot of yelling going on behind the scenes at the moment.

    This decision was made well above them, maybe even the Ellison level.

    60 Minutes is still prestige, but they are fighting for their lives right now. If all of the anchors are replaced, or they don’t back track on this soon, they fade. But give the staff a little time to fight… or leak that bitch.
