Polish energy company, Gaz-System, operator of the Świnoujście LNG Terminal, holds the KZR (National Sustainable Development System) certificate from the Oil and Gas Institute, National Research Institute (INiG), announced Gaz-System. This certification verifies compliance with the sustainability standards of the EU Renewable Energy Directive.
The KZR allows Gaz-System to introduce a new service, the issuance of Proofs of Sustainability (PoS) for LNG volumes handled through regasification and supplementary services. These proofs follow sustainable development chain rules and allow customers to achieve ESG strategies and transformation targets, according to Gaz-System.
“Obtaining the certificate means the company joins the sustainable supply chain for raw materials used in the production of biofuels, bioliquids, and biomass fuels, including biomethane and bioLNG,” said Elżbieta Kramek, vice-president of Gaz-System. “As a result, infrastructure that currently ensures security of gas supplies also becomes part of the long-term energy transformation, enabling the handling of renewable fuels such as bioLNG or biomethane.”
