A new health care option is opening in a region of Connecticut.

Hartford HealthCare–GoHealth Urgent Care, which already has nearly 40 locations across the state, said the new location is in Killingly, and that it aims to expand “convenient, affordable, and patient‑centered care options for residents in northeast Connecticut.”

According to Hartford HealthCare, the new center is “designed to offer access to same‑day care close to home, helping the community receive the right care, at the right time, in the right setting.”

“Hartford HealthCare remains committed to transforming the healthcare experience by addressing the long‑standing challenges of a fragmented, often inefficient system,” the system said in a statement. “Through innovative partnerships like GoHealth Urgent Care, we are removing barriers, integrating care across settings, and meeting patients where they are.”

The goal of the new Killingly location is to help bring “lower‑cost, high‑quality care directly into the community,” according to the health system.

Meanwhile, the Connecticut Office of Health Strategy recently approved Hartford HealthCare’s emergency certificate of need application for the transfer of Manchester Memorial Hospital, including the Rockville campus and other assets.

A spokesperson for Hartford HealthCare said earlier this month that the health system is “pleased and proud that [it] has been named the buyer of Manchester Memorial and Rockville General hospitals by the bankruptcy court.”

“As a Connecticut-based health system with a national reputation and track record of excellence, Hartford HealthCare is uniquely positioned to deliver on our promise to these communities,” the spokesperson said. “We are actively working to provide resources to stabilize and grow the workforce, enhance quality and safety, and make strategic investments in people, programs, technologies, facilities, and community partnerships.”

According to the health system, Hartford HealthCare–GoHealth Urgent Care Network serves more than 500,000 patients annually, and the system is intended to reduce unnecessary emergency room visits, “resulting in lower out‑of‑pocket costs and shorter wait times for patients.”

It notes the model provides “referrals to primary care, specialty services, imaging, and behavioral health within Hartford HealthCare.”

The new site will serve Killingly, Putnam, Brooklyn, and surrounding areas, with urgent care services that include evaluation and treatment of injuries, illnesses, infections, X‑ray, rapid lab testing, and diagnostics, virtual care options, sports physicals, vaccines, and preventive care, according to the health system. It will have walk‑in availability, and online check‑in.

The site is in Killingly, 550 Hartford Pike, Ste. 3. There also are a Willimantic clinic, located at 1315 Main St. and an Ellington clinic at 135 West Road.
