Gender relations are becoming increasingly adversarial. If men have affordable sex bots (let’s say the cost of a high end gaming PC), not only will the population plummet but women will need to reevaluate their role in dating and relationships.
Right now, the top percentile of men get their pick and female hypergamy tends to add to that social trend. Let’s assume sexbot usage is normalized 40-50 years from now. It’s quite possible, a new normalization happens in that of…polygamy. Extrapolate a few hundred years from then and I can’t see the western world’s genetic pool being diverse.
Edit: unfortunately many are taking this comment outside of its intent as a speculative view on societal trends and more as an attack on women. Not deleting though. And for clarity, I personally think this would be a net negative on society.
Redditors revealing their chronically online perspective of the dating scene. I think that sex bots will probably lead to a rise in mysoginy, but women aren’t going to have to rethink their roles in relationships or anything like that.
That kind of thinking relegates them to sexual objects
Well… i think sex toy use for women is way less stigmatized because we , as woman, have been dealing with mediocre unpleasurable sex for millenia and have had to take matters into our own hands. And then men are like, well great, less work for me in the bedroom , you just get yourself off if you really want to.
And now with sextech its like, oh man – youre not even good enough to find a warm body to please you, you have to use a toy!???
Its a comment on the orgasm gap , if anything.
gender wars are always stupid. it is completely ok to use sex toys or sex tech if you are in a situation where that makes sense or you just want to. and it should be seen as such. regardless of your gender.
if men are stigmatized more for it that’s bullshit and should be called out. people shouldn’t get away with shaming someone for using sextech more because of their gender. let people have fun. all people.
If a sex toy has eyes or a face or full human form (dolls) or animal form, then I’m going to judge everybody equally.
It’s not inherently wrong to choose those options, but it has an ick factor, that’s more about what a person would desire doing to any living being, if they were incapacitated and there was an opportunity.
It’s an unfounded suspicion, but it’s there for me.
I would not be with anybody who uses that kind of toys.
But fleshlights, vibrators, sleeves, rings, plugs and dildos are equal opportunity (In whatever fashion they can be operated consensually).
Straight men owning toys has been vanishingly rare in my experience and it’s probably for the best, because most of them wouldn’t be very interested in cleaning their toys, which would be just vile. I have mostly male friends.
The ones who don’t have any luck with women (ever), do use erotic computer games. Like simulator type things.
We don’t discuss it, but I think it’s a valid option.
Men are very visually inclined, so it makes sense they want a visual erotic novel.
Women might read instead and use our imagination.
I think the shame thing is more or less a patriarchy problem, since it mostly applies to heterosexual men.
