In the night leading up to December 22, drones of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence’s Main Directorate of Intelligence struck the Tamanneftegas sea oil terminal in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.

An informed interlocutor from military intelligence confirmed the attack, and the information was also corroborated by the relevant official assessment.

As a result of the damage, elements of equipment at the oil- and fuel-loading terminal were destroyed or damaged, the infrastructure of the liquefied hydrocarbon berth and port facilities was affected, causing a large-scale fire.

It is noted that military intelligence is increasing the offensive pressure on Russia’s energy sector, which directly participates in financing the war against Ukraine.

The Tamansky Transshipment Complex, operated by Tamanneftegas, is among the most significant facilities in the Black Sea region. The total capacity of the oil products and liquefied gas tank farm exceeds one million cubic meters.

On December 19, in Russia’s Volgograd Oblast, there was an explosion on the Central Asia – Center main gas pipeline;

This development indicates a strengthening of intelligence’s strike potential in the context of Russia’s energy infrastructure and its role in the war against Ukraine.

Context of the Event and Potential Consequences

According to experts, such actions influence risks to the region’s energy supply and may have further consequences for Russia’s maritime and port sectors, particularly in the Black Sea basin.
