1. MS-13 gang member Marvin Abel Hernandez Palacios was slapped with a cumulative 1,335-year sentence on Thursday for “aggravated homicide, aggravated femicide, disappearance of persons, extortion, illicit trafficking and illicit groups”

2. Am I the only one that thinks these insanely long prison sentences are ridiculous? Humans have finite lives. These people are not going to live longer than a few decades behind bars, and the real difference between an 80 year sentence and this one is nothing. The article says other prisoners got 500 year sentences at the same time. What is the real difference to them between 500 years and 1300 years?

   Just give them life without parole or death at this point. Bullets are cheap and ropes are reusable, and it would do more to deter crimes than a nonsensically-long prison sentence would.
