Biomass energy is not necessarily electricity, most biomass is used for heat production (for space heating, cooking or industrial processes) or for transport (biofuels). A minor part is used for electricity. So how can we trust an article that can’t even properly define what biomass energy is?
Waste stream Biomass is a good way to improve the efficiency and is arguably renewable since the waste would decay to methane and carbon dioxide anyway, managing this process is a good way of reducing human impact and closing the loop. Asda and McDonalds in the UK using biodiesel made from their waste oils to power their fleet is a good example of this.
Biomass from farming oil/sugar/wood is a very poor use of land and arguably not renewable. Running a former coal power plant on imported Canadian wood pellets is an example of green washing.
