During the Beyond Clickbait Young Journalists’ Forum held in Minsk today, Belarus Information Minister Marat Markov proposed introducing artificial intelligence into the work of media correspondents, accompanying his speech with a video featuring the faces of the actors of the famous Soviet film, The Irony of Fate or Enjoy Your Bath! replaced by the Hollywood actors’ faces with help of artificial intelligence

Mr. Markov noted, “We live in a new information space and in a completely new information age. The amount of information on the Web, which is very different from the truth, is growing every day. One and a half billion pieces of fake information are distributed on social networks daily, and this video demonstrates how we will distinguish it from reality. It features nothing real: it’s just a plot, with the Hollywood actors’ faces superimposed on the specific roles of other people.”

The Information Minister stressed that the creation of such fakes does not imply a desire to violate the law, but primarily attracts attention, “However, in this regard, it must be clearly understood that it was created by artificial intelligence. AI and social media are not foreign evils, these are actually a tool that I would like you to learn how to use. If there is at least one such specialist in each editorial office, we will get a really great result. This requires the willingness and co-operation of the editor-in-chief or the head of the media. If there is such a desire and assistance, the result will be wonderful, believe me.”
