Hello from the other side of the Atlantic! I am very happy to see we are expanding our NATO commitments and are looking to have a permanent base in Latvia.

    Canada continues being a civilized nation that takes its alliances seriously and can be relied upon. I hope we can reciprocate in a useful way.

  3. that would be the best christmas gift I could ask for. Canada basing permament base here. How about some heavy tank brigade with air defence capabilities. a 10 000 trooops would be the best christmas gift Canada!

    Let’s be honest, everyone loves seeing Canadian serviceman – the kindness and politeness is just an awesome example to strive towards.

    (Also we secretly hope you have bunch of ideas to asd to Geneva checklist again if worst comes to past. Ad we hope everyone else believes that too.)

  5. Oh man I hope this happens. Then only Estonia would be without a permanent base, but they at least are next to Finland.

  7. That is great, but then we need to buy some military tech or weapons from them. So that the cooperation is two way street not just “you come here, defend us while we Netflix and Chill”. Or maybe Government could subsidize some partnership with Latvian drone manufacturers and Canadian surveillance and imaging systems – I am almost confident I have seen something about it being made in Canada.
