Whilst its nice to see Reform starting to flatline in the polls it is only a few of them and its a very long way to the next GE. However if it twists Nigel’s tail a touch its certainly worth reporting.
One of the key arguments for PR is that it would give us a taste of what chancers and frauds are actually like in power on the way up rather than having to wate for them to be powerful enough to risk them trashing the country first.
Is it just me or is it getting kind of exhausting every percentage or two swing in opinion polls of 5000 people being seen as some huge cataclysmic event thats deserving of a hyperbolic headline about a party’s fortunes X number of years before a general election.
I’m saying this on a Reform post so I might get downvotes from people getting the wrong idea, but I mean this in a general sense regardless of how each “team” is doing.
I’d say 2020s politics is mental enough without pollsters going wild and making statements that will undoubtedly look very silly in hindsight over tiny movements from week to week. I remember when polls used to be hidden deep in broadsheet papers and like everything else they’ve become this big circus and drama.
Our man of the people Nige is going to need some more of that sweet Russian / American fundamentalist money.
Reform was buoyed quite a bit by the storm Elon Musk and co dug up. Especially with the boats and grooming gangs. But these are not new issues, and they will not sustain momentum for 4 years. Assuming Labour don’t cock something else up, I expect Reform’s popularity will go down over time and will be replaced back by the Conservatives (assuming Badenoch doesn’t cock things up somehow).
The demographic problem Reform face is polls consistently show everyone who ‘would ever consider voting for the party’ already support them.
Meaning they’ve hit an electoral ceiling and only really have down to go without some drastic political change.
Only one poll that matters and Reform couldn’t even beat a weak, shrivelled up manifestation of the tory party that time. They’re a right wing protest party.
It isn’t really all that surprising. It’s not like Reform has done much to showcase its competency (with its flagship councils failing to achieve their electoral goals and being hot messes besides) or been able to quieten the accusations of racism. I can easily see some disillusioned Tories realising that maybe they’re not _that_ disillusioned and scurrying back to their original party.
Probably because the only reason people would vote for them is because of the immigration and asylum issue which Labour are actually addressing.
I was under the impression people on this sub didnt care much for polls now with the election being so far away. Funny how thats changing now.
Reform have my vote on lock. Funny the desperation when they drop yet nothing when they leading (×which they still are). Reminds me of the obsession over the councillors when analysis showed that more scrutiny was on Reform than Labour or Tories.
Reform is only alternative to stop major parties and change Britian. People want the same and wonder why country is falling apart.
Great, they’re now on course for just a regular majority rather than a super majority. Nice one.
Careful their most deluded of followers were out earlier claiming it’s all a lie and they will win a landslide. Now a second poll has landed…
People aren’t as easily fooled by racists working for Russia. I just wish the parties would grow a backbone and humiliate them and their nasty followers than trying to appeal to them
On one hand this is good, but on the other it is not because we don’t want Labour to walk the next election because there is no rival for them to actually put effort into improving the country.
The Tories were polling hugher than Labour in the last poll so i dont think its really good news for labojr
Remember how exhausting the run up to general elections can be? It’s like we’ve got that every week now.
Hopefully undisputable evidence of his treason will be found and he’ll end up in prison. Granted it already exists but for some reason lobbying foreign governments to apply tarrifs to the UK is perfectly fine.
Great news. Just shows how Shabana Mahmood is solving the mass migration nightmare left by the Tories
I’m not at all interested in polls. They have been proven time and time again to be irrelevant.
Especially this one.
I am fairly certain there will be a ‘world event’ between now and the next GE that will render all these polls meaningless.
Good. I’m not in the mood for yet another racist party.
Given that their voter base is on the older site I wonder if they are literally dying off.
Literally months of rises in Reform support in the polls and the media portray it as insignificant. As soon as there is a minor drop in the polls, suddenly it’s the most important news.
Perhaps the whole Farage being a Quisling for Russia is sinking in. Everything he does aligns with Putlers goals.
However you vote, please please don’t vote for Reform. From ruSSian funding to the demonstrably awful job the Reform Council’s are doing our very own Temu MAGA. Vote for decency and integrity.
I hope Labour gets an absolute majority at the next GE. Failing that, I hope there’s a Tory majority. I just don’t want to see any of the crackpot parties (Reform, Greens etc.) anywhere near government and crashing the economy.
Good. Reform need to feel the heat and have their integrity and policies scrutinised.
It’s too far out from a GE for these polls to mean anything but the next real world indicator is next year’s local elections.
Labour have failed to get their message across about the good work they have done, and are allowing the traditional and new media to trash them. Why they don’t organize their own social media is beyond me. The result of those elections will not be good for them because the voters have short memories and unrealistic expectations of what is possible after 14 years of Tory incompetence.
The electorate is also as thick as two planks if they think Reform (aka Tories v2.0) will do any better. They do think that and a lot will vote for Reform but maybe not as many as they would wish. Why? Not all voters are unthinking sheep.
while I’m not ignorant enough to think this’ll be a permeant thing, I know reform is a jingoistic flash in the pan that’ll die down when either the economy returns to normal and real world growth returns or, and what’s happening here, people realise that the ones running the show are irredeemable bastards
Does anyone else think the outcome of the 2028 US election will have some sway with our elections? If the dems win in 2028, i think that will possibly harm Reform in 2029
Nice to get a bit of Christmas good cheer; hopefully it drops to the minus regions.
