Anders Aslund is a Swedish economist, former Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and a preeminent specialist on East European economies. He has been closely involved with Ukraine and its economy since the 1980’s. In this interview, Mr. Aslund talks about the Russian economy and the effect on it of Western sanctions during its war with Ukraine. He reviews Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s oil industry and energy infrastructure and talks about the outlook for 2026.
