I doubt the guy beating them would even face any repercussions. “I heard a noise outside and saw what looked like someone breaking into my car. When I tried to stop them they hit me so I was just defending myself, they could have had a weapon!”
The conspiracy theorist in me would say this a great false flag operation to drum up support for further restrictions on anti-protesting laws focusing on the environment.
Are politicians cars to difficult to get access too? I feel like targeting them would be more effective.
Any Joe Bloggs driving an SUV in 2022 does not give a shit about their individual carbon footprint etc and I don’t see how letting their tyres down will change their mind on that.

They also target electric vehicles, so this is less about climate and more about being jealous of other peoples “toys”

They defalted two of my tyres. Pretty annoying and cost me approx £600.
The weight of the car sitting on a completly defalted tyre makes them unsafe to drive on the motorway once reinflated.

Not gonna lie I wish anti government and COL protests could be as passionate as what these groups are doing.
We are past the point of protests being undergraduates making cutesy and tongue in cheek placards and coming out on a warm summers day and resembling a day 1 Glastonbury crowd outside the HoC.
I’m all for seeing more real (read: angry) protest at this point.

The problem really is they have no idea who they are potentially stranding. It could be a carer, emergency workers, pregnant women, surgeons etc.
You don’t strand people without a clue on what impact that might actually have. I imagine the people behind this probably consider themselves more socially aware than some but they seem to have a massive blind spot for how stupid this is.
The trend of American style Wagons in my part of the UK world is depressing. Selfish men taking up public space and polluting the atmosphere. All just for fashion. For show. Embarrassing.

A lot of motors now display a sensor warning if the tyres are below pressure, so that would just be a mild irritant, but quite a few are now all electric too.

SUV’s will likely be taxed off the roads in our cities over the next ten years. And good riddance to them. As a driver, cyclist, pedestrian and father, I hate them.
Surely there’s a lot more constructive ways of progressing their aims than pissing loads of people off
It sucks but I understand the outrage.
Like people (understandably) are worried about their cars etc, but we could literally be facing a mass extinction event, and current times are just totally apathetic. We’re almost dull to the pain and desensitised.
I would agree with other comments that targeting politicians etc would be more impactful. Target the ones benefiting from the lying rather then the fellow peasants

Edit: apparently I misunderstood, they deflate them instead of slashing them so they don’t need to be replaced.
Well they won’t cause the accidents, only the drivers of vehicles with deflated tyres will. I remember in the Highway Code, years ago, that you should check car, ie walk around it, to make sure it’s safe to drive, before you start your journey. So it’s the drivers responsibility to make sure it fit to drive. By the way, I’m not sticking up for the tyre deflaters, just pointing that out, because the drivers would be liable if an accident was to happen.
If you can’t tell your tyre is fully flat, you shouldn’t be driving.
I have the feeling it’s a hard to swallow pill, but you don’t need a Land Rover to drive around 80% of the country.
Climate change is going to turn Europe into an overpopulated shithole with most of Africa and Asia banging on the gates, it’s a small pain now to avoid your grandkids having to support millions of unskilled migrants who’s home countries are too hot to physically live in.
What these chucklefucks are doing is indiscriminate, but so is climate change and mass immigration to where you live.

On one of Leena Norms’ videos she quoted a book about climate activism where it said something along the lines of “if there were an ongoing continuous campaign of letting down the tyres of 4x4s in London, then they would lose their desirability and soon people would stop buying them, so the question is, why isn’t anyone doing that?”
So I’m guessing that book got a bit of traction and some people ran with the idea

Most “SUVs” these days have the same engines and do the same MPG as other similarly sized cars. Are they going to do the same to people carriers or estate cars? Idiots.

It’s a shame because I completely agree with them when it comes to the environment. But this is just completely the wrong way to go about it.
They can’t seriously think that deflating someone’s tyres is going to make them think, “you know those people (who vandalised my car) are right, I should be more environmentally friendly”
I really don’t understand how deflating an SUVs tyres will help the environment or do your message any justice. Especially how if the car is heavy and sat on an empty tyre for a significant length of time it’ll need to be replaced meaning more damage to the environment.
There are six in our household. There’s a limited number of choices of vehicle. We used to have to drive what was a van with seats. Once the kids got past the buggy stage we were able to *downsize* to a large SUV. We don’t live in London or another big city so public transport just isn’t an option for 90% of the journeys we have to take. We literally drive the most economical thing that is actually viable. Am I supposed to put a laminated explanation in the window just in case some eco ‘warrior’ takes exception? And before some smart arse gets sanctimonious about how many children we ‘chose’ to have and the environmental impact of over population – we had triplets and weren’t about to just leave two in the snow.
I truly believe they are sent by oil companies trying to get us regular people to start hating the climate change activists.

Fucking with people’s cars won’t make people give up their cars for public transport, it will just make them hate whoever did it. If you want to get people on public transport, make it appealing, don’t bully people out of cars. My commute between 2 towns within the same Borough takes 10 minutes by car, or over an hour by bus. I’d have to leave for the bus before I’m even out of bed.

If you are targeting people who drive SUVs on the logic that they aren’t essential, then you have to target everyone that gets on a plane and goes on holiday when they could just go to Devon. Or someone who eats a steak for dinner when they could eat a cracker.

Pal of mine had his L200 tires slashed. Work truck to carry tools, wood, this kind of stuff. He’s not rich. This truck, it’s all his money. He’s drinking gallons of coffee all night and he’s been cutting wood his entire life.
If one night he catch someone slashing his tires again, that person is going to have a life altering experience.
