Disney has shared a first look at the new opening scene coming to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, offering an early preview of Buddy, the attraction’s new support-bot character. The scene will greet guests before the ride officially begins and introduces a new pre-mission moment focused on gameplay.
In this new scene, she helps Space Rangers get ready for their mission by guiding them through a quick blaster test. This gives riders a chance to understand how the updated handheld blasters work before entering the main ride.
The scene features multiple interactive targets surrounding Buddy, allowing guests to practice aiming and firing. The setup highlights several of the attraction’s new gameplay features, including visible laser targeting and responsive targets that react when hit.
This new opening scene is part of a major refurbishment that includes redesigned ride vehicles, real-time scoring screens, handheld blasters, and upgraded interactive targets throughout the attraction. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed in August for the refurbishment and is currently scheduled to reopen in spring 2026.
