I actually love Bjørvika, but I seem to be pretty rare with that opinion 😅
What’s wrong with it?
Yes
Absolutely not. It’s a sterile, barren, wastleand of asphalt and glass. Vannkunsten is in my eyes the only redeeming project here, and that is *only* for the way in witch it forms urban space. (Please no one say “but the opera is pretty cool”) The materiality of Bjørvika is depressing, and for the love of God, can people stop acting like glass facades are “open and transparent”? Cause they’re not.
Barcode alone with the opera and a huge green park in front with water front was “perfect” to celebrate Norways oil golden age. What they have built in front of the barcode is weird in many ways. Doesn’t give much back to the city.
It’s nice. Not much greenery yet, but don’t forget what it used to look like.
There are a few things Norway cannot do. New building architecture is one of them.
Oh well, nobody will shed a tear when this is torn down some time in the future at least.
Well, it is a prime estate until another apartment block gets built right in front of it.
I do
I actually find it really pretty. I like the different shapes on the buildings
I do, live right by it and I like it, all except the munch museum, which I hate.
Bjørvika is definitely better than what it used to be. Not a fan of the munch museum and all the grey colors though.
Its like the western coastline, but in building form.
I was very critical of it, but I really like how it turned out in the end.
Barcode by itself was fine and quite cool. The new residential buildings in front + the new Munch museum however is a joke
Why even care about a “skyline”? They’re only used for postcards and tourism brochures.
nah, not really
It looks horrible
Honestly this is exactly the kinda skyline I love. It reminds me of Denmark, where I grew up. I should live there.
In alternative to what?
In alternative to just building blocks even more sterile and gray yes I do.
I also don’t think I’d like it more with the whole empire state building sort of miss match.
I feel this is an adequate skyline with the lights pretty and yellow.
Ugly to be honest
I’ve been away for five years and just spent the weekend exploring this weird new part of my hometown. Except that it’s too grey, it’s really not too bad. I like the ground level areas with restaurants and places to walk and sit. The Munch museum is a disaster. Deichman is fantastic. Omg there are floating saunas?!
Extremely pleasant 🇳🇴
Loving it!!
Idk why Barcode gets such a bad rep as compared to say Tjuvholmen. Is it really the lack of vibrancy?
I actually think it’s quite nice walking in and around Barcode. I’m glad we’re finally getting to see more of this type of architecture in Oslo. It definitely gives those big city vibes Oslo had been lacking up until recently. And Deichman Bjørvika is a beauty. I’d never trade that building for anything.
The Munch museum though is a disaster and leaves much to be desired 🤢
I personally like it. Could do with some colour, but not unpleasant to watch.

Its Dubai filtered thru norwegian neuroticism.
Not at all.
It’s shit

It looks like a huge [improvement](https://www.bjorvikautvikling.no/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/2004_bispelokket-705×460.jpg) to me! And it’s not even done yet.
But someone always has to complain.
