I remember this would be the first place we would go when I went to London for a day out with my parents as a young child – there were guys who would sell you little metal cans (without lids – you returned them afterwards) of maize to feed the pigeons, who were of course numerous. Somewhere in my late father’s collection of 35mm slides (which numbered thousands, now culled to <1000) there should be one of me feeding the pigeons. Now going to have to dive into these this evening!
