  1. No. Cuz they’re not pronounced the same way.

    We pronounce Rap as the music genre the same was as its said in English.

    Context also matters, nobody’s gonna think you’re going to a burp-concert, or that you start making a sick rap because of the food you just ate.

  2. We pronounce our ‘r’ very differently from English so it doesn’t really sound similar

  3. The musical confusion is not the main one – it’s more how ‘burping’ in Norwegian is ‘raping’.

  4. It has confused my dad but in a worse way😭 He was on the phone speaking English to someone non Norwegian and burped, and proceeded to say oops i raped💀

    Burp: rap – [ra:p]

    Rap: rapp – [ræp:]

  6. Burping and rapping is basically the same thing, so no.

  7. “Raping” is just frowned upon here.
    Pronounciation is key.
