Hi, my girlfriend and I are travelling to Innsbruck from Vienna. We booked the 11.30 train a while back but when we went to look over our plans it’s showing one 11.30 train which has a bus replacement and one 11.30 train with no bus replacement
Will there be two trains or is it just still showing the old train and there will in fact only be one train leaving at 11.30 with a bus replacement halfway?
Thanks in advance, we were ideally looking forward to one single train journey as the views look stunning!
I’ve looked at it in detail and it seem it’s the same train (same train number: RJX 564), leaving from the same platform (platform 8) at the same time. So I would guess that they simply forgot to take out the normal train in the light of the bus replacment. Or maybe they are not sure for how long the bus replacement will be in place and then they will just delete that option once it doesn’t apply any longer.
For now I would presume that there will be a bus replacement for your train and there is no other option with that train/at that time.
Make sure to check again before you travel.
Only consolation is that the bus version seems to arrive earlier than the train would. So saves you an hour.
there are building activities between Salzburg and Kufstein, so I guess, you have to take the replacement bus between Salzburg and Kufstein. I guess, they just forgot to take out the “normal” train. Usually the train team will keep you informed and tell you where to go
It looks like the train will not be able to travel through Germany due to construction work. Presumably, the train therefore travels via alternative route through Bischhofshofen and Zell am See to Wörgl, not via Germany+Kufstein, and takes an hour longer (already experienced).
Alternatively, another train can be reached in Kufstein by replacement bus in Salzburg, which reduces travel time, but requires 2x changes.
lol da autobus is gschwinder als da Railjet. I scheiß mi on.
Damn Scots, they ruined Scotland!
Thanks for all your replies! Feel more at ease now. Will play it by ear and take the scenic route if it comes up! Can’t wait to head abroad 🙂
