The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the bombing of Imam Ali Mosque (AS) in Homs and offered condolences to the victims’ families and expressed solidarity with the Syrian government and people.
OIC reaffirmed its rejection of terrorism and extremism, denouncing attacks on places of worship and the intimidation of civilians.
Citing a security source, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported that based on initial investigations, the explosion was caused by explosive devices planted inside the mosque. Initial reports had linked the explosion to a suicide bomber.
The prestigious Islamic university in Egypt, Al Azhar condemned, in strongest terms, the Friday terrorist attack in Homs calling that a crime in blatant violation of the sanctity of human life and the sanctity of places of worship.
It said,” The perpetrators of this act are devoid of all meanings of religion, humanity, and morality, and they place no value on the lives of others, representing a serious threat to the security and stability of societies.”
Al-Azhar also extended condolences to the Syrian nation in all its groups and sects calling on all Syrians to unite and stand together against such acts whose aim is to undermine the country’s security and stability.
The Muslim World League also denounced reaffirming its full solidarity with Syria in confronting all threats to its security and stability.
The Secretary-General and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars noted that the perpetrators behind the Homs Mosque crime have stripped themselves of all values of religion and humanity, showing no regard for the sanctity of human life or places of worship.
Mohammed bin Abdul Karim al-Issa reaffirmed the League’s firm stance, rejecting and condemning violence and terrorism in all its forms and pretexts.
Al-Issa also stressed the Muslim World League’s full solidarity with Syria in confronting threats to its security and stability, extending heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and the injured, as well as to the Syrian people as a whole in this painful tragedy.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on worshippers at the Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) Mosque in Syria’s Homs Province and recalled the principled stance of the Islamic Republic in unequivocally condemning all forms of terrorism and violent extremism.
Esmaeil Baghaei emphasized the responsibility of all parties that, through illegal interventions, including violations of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the occupation of parts of the country, had created conditions for the continued existence, growth, and spread of terrorism and extremism.
The official was referring to continued military intervention in the Arab country by the Israeli regime and the United States.
Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly also addressed the terrorist crime that targeted Imam Ali (AS) Mosque in the city of Homs calling that a blatant violation of the sanctity of worshiping sites and an assault on all religious values, moral standards, and human principles.
It said,” The perpetrators of this criminal act, by targeting a place of worship and a group of innocent worshippers, demonstrated that they are devoid of any religious or human affiliation and completely stripped of conscience and moral responsibility.”
