  1. Congress and the scotus will suddenly rediscover their authority when a democrat takes the executive office.

  2. “ceding power” is called helping him and once again when it is the republicans the media uses the term “Congress”. You all know if this was the Dems the words would be “the Dems” and “ceding” would be “handing”.

    Words are powerful and the media very much selects them in a biased manner.

  3. Congress has been a second-tier-at-best branch of government since at least the Bush II years right on through. The AUMF alone speaks to that.

    Even this is arguably way too charitable to a branch of government that hasn’t formally declared war since when…? World War II? Everything else being a “special military operation” that they just let the Executive do whenever it wants.

    And that’s just conversations on war declarations and the absence of them. Congress is a massive joke in plenty of other areas in our lives.

Also SCOTUS is just going to keep giving him more wins. “Kavanaugh Stops” ruling basically made it legal to racially profile and violently disappear anyone who is non-white without due process. That’s the level of stupidity that occurred this year where our checks and balances completely failed. Our elected officials were cowards and complicit. Now the kids in my neighborhood don’t want to go outside and play or do anything, because they see the news and are scared of the “bad men hurting people”. Everything feels weird and scary. Thanks Congress and thanks SCOTUS. Great job. Truly brilliant. I can’t wait for the mid-terms.

    Democrats in Congress have not ceded power to Trump, and another floor in the title is that most Republicans have no problem whatsoever with ceding power to Trump. 

    But we are talking about The Hill here. They don’t care about good journalism. They try to find the best linkbait they can find.

    These people talk a big game but nobody wants to do what it takes to put the Executive back in its place, because it might mean some of them get primaried out of their cushy influential job.

My prediction, if the economy for the average person becomes worse, if the backlash for AI keeps on growing which means the backlash for the AI owners who backed Trump keep on growing and if more Epstein files reveal Trump’s deeds, you are going to see more and more GOP trying to save their necks and pull a, “We were never with Trump,” turnaround with these upcoming Midterms. As long as Trump was “winning,” they were willing to play along with him. But this administration is a floating island of garbage that even his base is starting to go quiet on.

    The more Trump lashes out, the weaker he looks. The more Stephen Miller, who I swear, is the real president running things, makes these inane decisions like going after Venezuela for its oil, the more people hate this administration because no one wants another war. And unlike the wars in Middle East where you could use the tragedy of 9/11 as propaganda to sell the war to the public, this administration has nothing. “These people are terrorists.” Says who? We have never been bombed by Venezuela. Not a single terrorist attack.

  27. They abdicated. At this stage all I can say is good luck getting it back. I can see Republicans and Democrats finally coming together and unanimously impeaching and actually voting to remove him while he remains in office. I can see him using military to stop law enforcement from forcefully removing him from office, or at least attempting to do so. No matter what, Congress lost their opportunity in Trump’s first administration.
