I live in Norway for almost 4 years now, and I always bought the square packs of Norvegia, Synnøve etc.. I finally decided to take a leap of faith and try something else and holy moly! Gräddost is delicious and I can never go back! I feel so stupid for not giving other cheeses a chance considering that I find Norvegia pretty bland.

  1. Try it on pizza or lasagna! (Or any other dish with melted cheese)

  2. If you’re ever in Sweden you can find bricks of the stuff for cheap(er)

  3. Norvegia is good for what it is, but yes; bland.

    Gräddost is delicious!

Locally produced (if done well, there’s terrible local cheeses out there too) geitost is the best👌

There’s loads of delicious cheeses that you may not eat every day, but are amazing with crackers etc

  4. Gotta get that cheap Coop cheese by Synnøve. Find the ones closest to it expiration. Then store it in the bottom of the fridge for like 3-6 months past it’s due date. Taste like a Gruyere or some sjit laik datt

  5. Gräddost have always been a Christmas only cheese for us. Any other time its norvegia!

  6. You’re going to eat yourself stygg on it if you eat to much

  7. I recommend Synnøve Gårdsost, it’s my current favourite!

  8. This is the only “yellow cheese” we buy, any time we try something else our kids won’t eat it. 😂 Luckily I also love it!

  9. It’s really good, but not for everyday consumption. The fat content (making it delicious) is fairly high. ‘Grädde’ is swedish for ‘fløte’/cream.

Most people reserve ‘gräddost’ as a treat for christmas, Easter and other special occasions.

  10. Elsker gäddost, men synes ikke den gjør seg i smelta form.

  11. Now go buy yourself a ball of Edamer, and keep it unopened in the fridge for a couple of years, or even longer.

  12. I get the COOP cheddar – need some flavor in my cheese

  13. Swedish cheese made by norwegians.

    Just buy the swedish one

  14. We buy it exclusively around Christmas but it’s soooooo good

  15. Next step is to spiral the ostehøvel so you can make a mile long slice that still only counts as one

  16. This is a swedish cheese originaly, so of you want an even better grädost, try to looknfor Arla. Its not so easy to find in block. Most stores have it presliced. Dont know if i think the presliced is better, bit the block most def is better.

  17. gotta love people in norway discovering swedish food and immediately going “oh this is so good im not eating the norwegian shit ever again” lol

  18. Looks like Havarti. Is it different from flødehavarti?

  19. Gräddost is so good! You should also give edamer a try! It might be on sale now since Christmas is over.
