New study reveals staggering benefits of pairing solar panels with crops: ‘Economic value’. Agrivoltaics increases both crop yields and soil health. Farming among solar panels means we can double the use of farmland and create additional income for farmers. It also produces low-cost clean energy.

Solar and wind energy ate liberal hoax. We need more coal mines there instead!
Seems odd that they mention Canada though. I think the greatest benefits will be in hot, dry places.
I’m all for it, and know that farmers would love the 2x yield for their arable land, but I believe the ground mounts would have to be be twice as wide to harvest and let in enough sun for the crops (and half the $/kWh per acre), or they are only particular shade crops. Livestock could be a good coupling with solar at full yield.
Yup. And yet the well meaning masses have been duped by fossil fuel propaganda into demanding restrictions on land that farmers can use for solar.
It follows that tall crops liketrees/bamboo would provide similar effects
>The shade of the panels creates microclimates that protect crops from the harsh effects of full sunlight and keeps soil cooler and damper.
I never thought of this, but it makes sense. Even plants that are well-watered apparently don’t like non-stop sunlight.
