I think there strategy heavily involves Finlands softening them up.
I didn’t know the basic information needed to be surveyed but good ok thanks!
We have good hardware and such. Just not enough of anything. Not people, not ammunition, not even boots. Its embarrassing.
Removing conscription was a mistake since it set us back so much.
I don’t know about the army, but at least they make good hardware 😅
I feel like we have a bias against Sweden and will rate everything they have as low-tier even if it isn’t. They should put that strong economy of theirs into work and train more troops though.
What do you mean? Swedes, the fierce descendants of vikings, will fight bravely to the last fin!
Surprised:
well why would sweden invest in their military when they know they would ahve to go through finland first
I don’t know who was asked for an opinion but at least as far as I know finns consider swedish materiel top notch, but they do not have enough personnel.
Swdish strenght is in marine and air, and artillery system along with coastal defencesystems that are unparalled in todays world, they just aren’t very well known here in Finland.
air force and navy are solid. Army not so much. I guess they are working on that.Â
Finns also doesn’t know much.
I’ve understood that Sweden is strong where Finland isn’t and vise versa. Sweden has better airforce, navy and also half finished atomic weapon. Finland has artillery and other landwarfare
Finland should expect 0 help from ANYONE. Finland must be ready by herself alone. If some country decides to actually help, great but planning on the condition of someone coming to save you is a dangerous national policy.
Especially a country who has absolutely 0 military experience. (Having tanks and planes is not experience. Their soldiers have not seen a single real fight probably in their collective lifetime.)
It is the Finnish infantry, combined with the Swedish Air Force and Navy. Brothers in Arms
Does anyone actually do these surveys or are they just pushed by bots
I mean, we have a low opinion of their defence capability since their land forces aren’t that good. The majority of Finns are experienced in the army, and given our generic focus more on the land aspect of defence, Sweden really isn’t as good at that. I’m very grateful for the naval and aerial capabilities that the Swedes bring, but whenever I’ve participated in exercises with Swedes as a conscript, our conscripts have been equal, if not superior to their professional soldiers.
Good ol’ Sweden, ready to fight the russians until the last Finn
Well yeah… They defence strategy will be to offer Finland in exchange of staying out of a war, and think about their economy…
And obviously they’ll keep selling things like bearings and other componenets via satellite nations to Russia, while claiming to condemn the attacks.
It’s the whole thing of the French, the Brittish and Germans being so worried of a Russia invasion and therefor they should bolster their defences. Ok sure… But Russia ain’t maching to Berlin. However they will rape, pillage and destroy Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, while these nations think in their capitals, whether they could somehow ensure peace by letting Russia annex these lands, because they must think of their economy and access to energy.
Fresh Survey Finds Finns Think Sweden is Gay.
To be honest, I think the result of the survey can mostly be explained by outdated mental images and ignorance. The article mentions as much.
Sweden offers much more than just equipment. We have similar total defense policies and while Sweden has not kept their conscription model ongoing, they have a history of operating one that is not dissimilar to Finland’s. Could Sweden improve? Of course, but they are already very much committed to joint defense, know how to operate in the arctic area, and bring a critical number of professional soldiers and military equipment to the table. The Swedish air force and navy are already very capable in an operative sense, and while the army might not be very large, it could quickly be built up to respectable manpower numbers. All it takes is restarting conscription.
So where is this survey? Someone care to share or is this just another lazy ragebait by Kremlin trolls?
I mean few brigades to the North, multiple subs blocking the baltic sea with a highly capable navy and 100+ Gripens flying in the Finnish airspace as needed – how bad can it be?
The perception among reservists is that the Swedish Armed Forces have a sharp spearhead but a short shaft. The total defence that was demolished weakened Sweden’s civilian and military resilience. And we know very well how many decades it takes to build up operational and well-trained organizations again – and not just military ones. Civilian crisis exercises must also take place every year on a broad scale coordinated between defence, police, municipality, state, etc. for preparedness to be realistic.
Försvarsbeslutet 2015, when Sweden decided that the main task of the Swedish Armed Forces again should be to defend Sweden, was the starting point but progress has been slow. It will take decades to rebuild. They will get there, as long as there is political will and support from the populace.
As the saying goes, Sweden always fights bravely till the last Finn.
