  1. Because Lady Penelope has to have something practical.

  2. Haha I’m a gardener and work on this street sometimes, see this car all the time. Always wonder who and why. But yes the answer is mainly because Chelsea.

  3. That’s not a Chelsea Tractor, that’s a Chelsea Panzer.

  4. There was always one of these parked up near a width restriction in Nunhead I think. It was a fire engine, so maybe this is a conversion of a fire engine version?

  5. As long as they’re paying £10k/year in road tax, and it’s paying a team to drive behind them fixing potholes, I’m happy.

  6. Looks like it’s gonna separate when subjected to any kind of stress

  7. As of October it’s 40 years old. It could be registered as Historic and would then be ULEZ exempt.

  8. Was a conversion by a coach builder called Glenfrome, very big in the 80s for extended Range Rovers etc, as well as some other bizarre offerings.

  9. That looks cool as hell, not sure about the functionality though

  10. A Wood and Pickett Sheer Rover. They made many different specifications, 6 wheels, convertible etc. The forerunner to the “Vogue” spec that became definitive. There was one parked next door to a friend’s house when I was at school. Very cool.

  11. When you want to take 8 of your mates to the next layby while your car cools down.

  12. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should

  13. I’m not sure whether owning something like this suggests you’re extremely wealthy or really skint.

On the one hand, it must cost a lot in fuel, ulez, tyres. More than the average person could afford. On the other, it’s about 40 years old and looks like it has been put together by a welding enthusiast who drinks tea by the gallon, and does works on the car in a shed with calendars on the walls featuring half naked women.

  14. I’m just curious to know whether it’s insurance is listed as a tractor or just a car? Just insane but probably meant for carrying heavy loads in the trunk maybe? The extra wheels obviously hinder its top speed as well.

  15. Why not? Ask the driver what are the positives and the negatives of this configuration.
